Accommodations vs. modifications

Notes from the Spring 2007 CSUMB Special Education 560 class on introduction to special education from February 10, 2007 with Dr. Leilani Saez:

Both accommodations and modifications change the instruction for student needs.

• Accommodations: teachers do not change the instruction. Instead they change the response or presentation mode.
• Modifications: teachers change the instruction for student access.
